CAT stands for Contract Action Team and it is an internal union network of members created to engage and activate the membership, and community if necessary, using a two-way pipeline of communication. We have begun to organize a CAT because bargaining is beginning and this is a way to communicate with members quickly and consistently so that everyone knows what is happening at the bargaining sessions for all units. Being aware of the progress toward a new contract, or lack thereof, will allow members to support all bargaining teams in various ways. For example, members may choose to attend a bargaining session as a silent negotiator or wear red or a WEA button on certain days.
